Croatia Party and the 7^th annual CYGN conference are on this weekend.

On offer is an evening of select Croatian delights, literature displays, special giveaways from local Croatians and an auction of an exclusive one-off designer tie.

The conference will be held Saturday (9am-4pm) and Sunday (10am-2pm) at the Australian Croatian Club.

On Sunday 19 October, The Australian Croatian Club will be hosting a lamb spitroast lunch from 12pm.

Croatia Party is the highlight event of the 2008 CYGN Conference, and is open to members and friends of the network, even those not attending the conference. To receive your invitation, or request additional information please email us.

Guests are arriving from all around Australia, including Perth, Adelaide, Wollongong, Melbourne and Sydney – as well as the ACT and region. The evening will feature entertainment, drinks and light refreshments in a sophisticated setting. Dress code is ‘sophisticated’, so the excuse to buy that new dress or suit is here!

Special guests, prizes and a surprise auction will be held on the evening.

The date coincides with WORLD TIE DAY, an initiative of Academia Cravatica, a group which studies, preserves and improves the cravat as a part of Croatian and world heritage.

All are welcome.

Maybe it’s Makybe Diva, France 98, Goran Ivanisevic, or maybe it was your local football team taking out the premiership that year…

We want to know:

What is your most memorable sporting moment involving Croatia?
Which of your sporting heroes have represented Croatia in some way?

Many Croatian communities in Australia have associations with sporting clubs, which has in turn engaged and exposed the wider Australian community to Croatian-backed teams and talent in Australia and abroad. These athletes, with their red and white checks, and sometimes firey temperaments, have served as ambassadors for a small nation with big talent.

How do you express what it means to you?

We want to hear your thoughts on the 2008 theme and some ideas for discussion listed below.

THE CROATIAN YOUNGER GENERATION’S NETWORK (CYGN) is open to members and friends of the Croatian community in Australia and abroad. In 2008, Canberra will host the 7th annual conference with local, interstate and international speakers and participants discussing matters relevant to Australians with Croatian heritage and interests.

The CYGN conference provides an annual forum to discuss topics and initiatives related to the Croatian community in Australia. This year there are several speakers, a nation-wide phone hook up, blog, as well as networking events on offer.

Assistance with accommodation and transport as well as access to the telephone hookup
can be arranged by contacting the Canberra conference organisers via this blog or email.

CONFERENCE DETAILS:
DAY 1 SATURDAY 18 October: 9am – 4pm (with LUNCHTIME OPEN FORUM 12 – 2pm)
DAY 2 SUNDAY 19 October 10am – 3pm
